LOCAL AUTHORS FEATURED AT BOOK EXTRAVAGANZA

ESCONDIDO — NORTH COUNTY AUTHORS & POETS (NCAP) of San Diego present their 5th Annual Book Extravaganza from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, JULY 25 in the Turrentine Room at the Escondido Public Library, 239 S. Kalmia St. Signed books by local authors will be available for purchase. Admission is free.

Many NCAP members are retired military and a portion of this year’s July event will celebrate their dedication and sacrifice to our country. During the day excerpts from novels, poetry and prose will be read in their honor. Iraq veteran Tyler Jones (Escondido) will discuss his upcoming comic books titled "Land of Confusion."

Also from Escondido are authors: Hal Flemings (Examining Criticisms of the Bible); Curt Erler (Heaven Bound in the Dead of Winter & Mantilla Lady); James Pontious (The Gospel According To James); Jennifer Kise (The Birthday Surprise & Self Esteem Handbook For Kids).

Barbara Deming (The Quilt Maker & Growing Up Barefoot in the South); Mary Lenore Quigley (Indelible Ink & By Fools Like Me); Janie Lancaster (Emily & Julie & The Lost Fairy Tale), and Trisha Haddad (Best Of Luck Elsewhere) hail from San Marcos.

From the greater San Diego area are authors: David Valley (Bright Life & The General’s Women - Douglas MacArthur’s Loves). Roger Conlee (The Hindenburg Letter & CounterClockwise); and new author David Lucero (The Sandman).

From Del Mar & Oceanside, better known throughout San Diego as poets "Hither & Yahn" are authors Robert Thomas Lundy (Ten Holidays That Shook the World - a San Diego Book & Writing Award Finalist) and Elizabeth Yahn Williams (Seasonal Reflections - a San Diego Book & Writing Award Finalist).

Other poets joining us this year are Molly McClendon from Clairemont (Tis Never an Ill Wind That Doesn’t Blow Some Good); Rita Sweeting, Vista ("All The Fallen Soldiers"); and Brandon Cesmat, Valley Center (When Pigs Fall in Love & Other Stories; and Driven into the Shade, winner of the San Diego Book Award for poetry 2003).

Different authors speak every fifteen minutes. Come. Hear their stories. Be prepared to be inspired. Information: Mary Quigley (760) 510-9587 or mary@Q2Ink.com

THE NEXT NCAP EVENT is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, 2009 at the Oceanside Library.
